No, physiotherapists can assess and treat without referral by a doctor. However most health insurers require a doctors referral before they authorise cover of fees, some only require a phone call.

  • My doctor gave me a referral for another physiotherapy clinic but I would rather come to your clinic. Is this possible?

Yes. It does not matter which physiotherapy clinic you go to, as long as the physiotherapists who work there are Registered Physiotherapists, meaning that they are regulated by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. At Expert Physio Plus, all of our physiotherapists are registered and you can be ensured only top quality care.

  • Does Expert Physio Plus offer OHIP coverage?

Unfortunately, Expert Physio isn’t registered to bill the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care for Physiotherapy services. Please note that OHIP coverage is only available for those who are 19 or under OR over 65 and covers up to $300 per episode of care ( this will cover few number of visits). These sessions may include a combination of a Physiotherapist and Physiotherapist Assistants (PTA) or Kinesiologists working with you. All sessions at Expert Physio Plus are hands-on, one-on-one with a Physiotherapist, no PTA or Kinesiologist. This often permits more focused treatment on your specific condition.

  • What should I know about physiotherapy treatments?

With physiotherapy, it’s important to know that the overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring. Our physiotherapists evaluate your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work to manage or eliminate it altogether. Physiotherapists are trained medical experts when it comes to musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. They work closely with physicians to make sure that your treatment plan is as efficient and effective as possible. Physiotherapy is a medical, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, our physiotherapists will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels.

  • Are PT treatments uncomfortable?

Good communication with our therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities. Physiotherapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain! There is a chance, however, as you restore your mobility that your pain levels will fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering. Rest assured that this is a normal response to physiotherapy treatment and not a cause for concern.

  • Will physiotherapy help me find relief?

Sure you can! Everyone can benefit from physiotherapy. By working with you and your doctor, we can discuss your options and help determine if physiotherapy will be the right choice for you. Call us today to discuss your current condition or request an appointment now.

  • How can I know if you treat my condition?

Rest assured, our therapists are well trained to evaluate and treat your condition. Our physiotherapists have graduated from accredited physiotherapy programs and are Province-licensed.
