Put Your Best Foot Forward with Medical Foot Care

You might not think too much about your feet, but they’re carrying you through everyday life, from running errands to playing with your grandkids. And when something starts affecting your foot health–such as a painful toenail, a cracked heel, a wound that doesn’t want to heal–those simple activities become harder than they need to be.

Fortunately, Expert Physio Plus offers medical foot care services to address those concerns while helping you protect your mobility and independence.

Happy Feet, Healthier You: Your Medical Foot Care Questions Answered

Before & After Treatment
What is medical foot care? +

Medical foot care focuses on the health of your feet, including your skin and toenails. It always begins with an assessment to identify your concerns and determine which treatments are appropriate for you.

We offer several services at Expert Physio Plus, including:

  • Toenail trimming
  • Skin softening
  • Corn and callus care
  • Treatment for cracked heels
  • Ingrown toenail care
  • Management of nail and skin fungus
  • Wound care
  • Footwear and home-care recommendations
Who can benefit from medical foot care? +

One of the groups that can benefit the most from our services is people with diabetes, as the condition can damage nerves and affect circulation in the feet. This means you might develop a blister, cut, or sore without realizing it. Furthermore, diabetes can make open wounds slow to heal.

That said, you don’t need to have diabetes or even a serious foot problem to benefit from professional care. Many of our patients are older adults or other individuals who have difficulty reaching, seeing, or safely caring for their feet. Professional care can also help if thick nails, painful calluses, cracked skin, or other concerns are making walking or wearing shoes uncomfortable.

What can we do to help people with diabetes-related foot concerns? +

Regular medical foot care often plays an essential role in diabetes management. Our team can help identify and treat concerns early, reducing the risk of complications.

For example, we can:

  • Check your skin, nails, and feet for changes
  • Safely manage corns, calluses, and toenails
  • Assess wounds and diabetic foot ulcers
  • Provide appropriate wound care and dressings
  • Offer practical advice for daily foot care and footwear

Routine professional care, combined with daily foot checks at home, can help protect your feet and keep you moving comfortably.

How do we treat foot wounds? +

Foot wounds deserve prompt attention, especially if you have diabetes or reduced sensation in your feet. When you come in for care, we’ll:

  • Carefully clean the wound
  • Change dressings
  • Apply appropriate medications
  • Monitor healing and watch out for signs of infection
What about foot concerns not related to diabetes? +

Our services can help manage many common problems that make walking, wearing shoes, or staying active uncomfortable. This includes:

Corns and Calluses We’ll work with you to safely reduce thickened skin and identify sources of excess pressure or friction.
Cracked Heels We’ll help you care for dry, hardened skin and recommend strategies to keep it soft and protected.
Toenail Problems We can trim thick or difficult nails and care for ingrown toenails.
Fungal Infections (Such as Athlete’s Foot) We can manage affected skin or nails and provide guidance to help prevent recurrence.
What can I do to keep my feet healthy at home? +

A few simple habits can make a difference:

  • Check your feet regularly for skin, nail, or colour changes.
  • Wash and dry them carefully, especially between the toes.
  • Moisturize dry skin as appropriate.
  • Choose comfortable, properly fitting shoes.
  • Avoid cutting corns or calluses yourself.
  • Ask for professional help if caring for your feet has become difficult.
Do I have to visit the clinic to receive services? +

You do! We offer both clinic-based and in-home medical foot care. In-home services are currently available exclusively in the Blackburn area for clients with limited mobility or who have difficulty traveling to our clinic. During your visit, our foot care specialist will assess your feet, discuss your specific needs and concerns, and provide the treatment that will best support your foot health.
