Helen Youssef

(Athletic Therapist)

Helen first learned about athletic therapy when she tore her ACL playing soccer when she was 14. Underwent surgery and had a long rehabilitation process. Through that process, she grew fascination for the human body and wanted to help other people feel better as she did. Since she played many sports growing up, and still do to this day, like volleyball, badminton, tennis, ping pong and more, becoming an athletic therapist seemed like the perfect fit for her.

she applied to the Athletic therapy Bachelors program at Sheridan college from High School along with 600 other applicants. Only 40 of were accepted to the program. In these 4 years, she had a variety of placements with many sports teams, where she refined her sports taping skills learned in class, and applied my emergency training as a Certified First Responder, when required at on-field sporting events.

Helen has had the pleasure and opportunity to travel with university teams around Canada, cover some major sporting events, and working with professional and semi-professional soccer and football players.

Throughout these 4 years, Helen knew that she wanted to continue her studies and to do a Masters in Physiotherapy. After graduating the program at Sheridan in 2019, she was accepted to the Masters of Physiotherapy in Edinburgh, Scotland at Queen Margaret University.

In Scotland, Helen learned and practiced to treating all ages, from neonates in the hospital, to the geriatric population in a home care. She has worked with a variety of conditions in cardiorespiratory, neurological, and musculoskeletal environments.

Helen loves treating patients and love helping people achieve their goals. She thinks it’s important for the patient to be in control of their rehabilitation and for her to provide them with the support and knowledge they need to meet their rehabilitation goals.
